The scheme is the largest accredited dog training programme in the UK. Now a well-established dog training programme that has been in operation since 1992. Open to all dogs, young or old, pedigree or Crossbreed, whether Kennel Club registered or not. It provides a quality standard of training for dogs and owners, and incorporates many domestic obedience exercises, Dog owners of any fitness level or disability can take part too. The Scheme is non-competitive and emphasis is placed on the standard of achievement. There are four levels of courses from Puppy Foundation, to Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award. The Bronze level GCDS is our most popular course for adolescent dogs. It is aimed at dogs 20 weeks and older. This class is designed to be a follow on from puppy training classes and is a natural progression for those owners that want to build on their dog’s training and develop a positive and trusting the relationship. In our experience, dogs that have previously attended a formal puppy training class such as our KC Puppy Foundation class are better equipped to deal with this training level. For the Bronze Level Test, (optional) dogs are not required to have completed the KC. A BIT ABOUT THE BRONZE COURSE Reinforcing core skills is a key component of the course. At this age dogs can concentrate and learn better in a calm and supportive environment. Sessions are run currently outdoor which is ideal as it is closer to your dog’s ‘real world’. The classes are fun and interactive and continue with basic training, yet also introduce new commands and clicker training for those that want to try, so the dogs learn about positive rewards for good behaviour.
